Agreement to expedite procedures for the recruitment of expatriates
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Manpower facilitate the recruitment of workers’ permits for investors through the recently-established investment services center which was set up as part of the new administrative framework of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The agreement enables investors to obtaining all forms of licenses required to set up a business through the Invest Easy Portal under the supervision of the investment services center. In this stage, the center deals with the projects with a capital exceeding RO 3 million as well as the five sectors targeted by the current five-year development plan specifically: manufacturing, tourism, logistics, fisheries and mining. As per the agreement, the project — during the registration stage — will be given an approval for the number of expat workers against a commitment to the Omanisation rate.
